Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; February 25, 2020: The Special Olympics Saudi Arabia Federation (SOSAF) has just announced the formation of its Board of Directors (2019-2023).
Led by SOSAF Chairperson H.R.H. Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United States, the board also includes notable professionals representing different sectors in the kingdom including:
His Excellency Bader Mohammad Al Asaker, Secretary General of the MISK Foundation & Secretary General of King Salman Youth Center; Dr. Maha Ahmad Al Juffali, Director & Supervising Trustee of The Help Center; Mr. Alaa Alhashem, Strategy Consultant & Board Member in Down Syndrome Charitable Association; Mr. Abdullah Faisal Al Hammad, President of the Leadership Development Institute; and Hassan Ali A. Alhadhariti, a decorated athlete and gold medalist in the Special Olympics World Games 2019.
The board members look forward to supporting SOSAF initiatives aimed at preparing persons with intellectual disabilities for opportunities in sports and in life. They will also seek to grow the Federation across all 13 regions of the Kingdom.
Speaking on the occasion of the announcement, Dr. Heidi Alaskary, CEO of SOSAF said, “The foundation of every successful endeavor is a community committed to the principle of
‘people first.’ The establishment of the Special Olympics Saudi Arabia Federation provides a platform of enablement and support for athletes with disabilities in the Kingdom, empowering them to compete at an international level, and to represent their country with pride.
